Sultry Rachel Weisz Portrait From National Portrait Gallery

A collection of celebrity portraits taken between 1971 and 1998 by Bob Carlos Clarke have been acquired by the National Portrait Gallery. The most notable piece in the collection is a sultry image of actress Rachel Weisz, in 1993. The former Mrs. Craig posed for the photo in Carlos Clarke's studio in Battersea, London.  The Irish photographer studied art and photography in London before embarking on his career and did a stellar job of capturing Rachel who was only twenty years old.

Rachel's career took over a few years after the portrait was taken, so it's an interest look at the then, blossoming actress as opposed to the global star she is now. Other portraits include Marco Pierre White and a beaming Elle McPherson, also from 1993. The images have been described as "classic" and "era defining" by Clare Freestone, associate curator of photographs at the NPG.
